The sky fell on my head.
Damn, I had just washed my hair!
And as for my suit!!!
The stars look like dandruff on it,
And the moon must make me look a right freak.
The sky fell on my head.
“Sorry” God said.

The Poet Known as “Empty Chairs”

Two poems about Martin O’………
We got tired of Martin
stinking in class,
so one day
14 of us
gave him a present
though it was not his birthday.
We each gave Martin
a bar of soap.
Of course he
threw them at us,
but it was worth the laugh!
—
(Martin is always throwing things.)
Martin put stones
inside the snowballs
he threw at us.
He made Charlotte and Vikki
cry.
Of course teachers are not allowed
to smack children now,
so we all got together
and beated Martin up.
Martin’s sort-of-dad came
to the school
and threatened us,
but teacher
called the police
and we beated Martin
up again.

It is easy to enter
one’s second childhood,
when one’s first
was the last time
that you were happy.
When you cursed the fact
that then
you had wanted to grow up
so quickly.
When I had my first bra
I told everyone in school.
My parents were good to me,
they did not know
that childhood would be
almost the last time
I was happy.
I wish I could enter
my second childhood,
be like like Jenny Joseph
and wear purple
with a red hat…
It will be wonderful
to be happy again
for only the second time
in my life.

Tiffy Witherington.
(note: the second Sophie poem perhaps I did not truely create from nothing, as it’s very much like what my eight-year old grand-daughter and her friends did to a stone-in-snow bully at her school!)

Thanks for the poems, I really needed that!
These are all charming, even the last which is hopeful. Good to know you are around, LP.
Those Sophie poems are harsh today … but then so are children nowadays. As for Empty Chairs … by far my favorite!
very nice.
I liked these.
Ha! I was just thinking about you yesterday, wondering how you were doing.
I hope you are well
Who cares what beautiful writing is created from, it’s still beautiful nonetheless.
Sophie will always be my favorite

Sweet poems from sophie, the innocence of childhood. Even stone in snowball throwing bullies seems sweet in light of the gang bangers with guns nowadays.
And poor Tiffy. Life is hard when you have nothing to look forward to.
Funny reading Tiffy’s poem made me realised how i used to be so eager to quickly grow up so i can just be an adult but now i keep on wishing i could have a second chance in childhood and be an 8 year old again and experience it again but alas can that be given ?
I love the first poem it made me laugh with God saying Sorry hahahahahaah and Sophie’s was an enjoyable one to read in the eyes of a child what they would do to a school bully ..
seems like the sky has fallen on my head these days as well sweetheart
i love the comic flair to this one….and the moon…should have made you feel like
like a king commanding the stars..which u are capable of..i have missed your words and xanga
Delightful romp through, through, and here words fail, because you traverse so much, about childhood and the sky falling! Thanks for the good birth/day wishes too! Hugs-
Ah the brutalities and complex issues of childhood, brought home in deep truth.
lord ur head is in the clouds good for U nice poems today & i saw u at home on a range in a strange clown hat magi
Dear Tiffy, at least you had the happy childhood and the bad times didn’t start until after that.
All wonderful poems, but the first one… love it !!
God amazing as always. I wouldnt want the sky to fall on my head though…lol.
Martin sounds like an interesting character. And as usual, Sophie touches my heart. Well done, LordP.
Take care….
Good for your granddaughter!! I despise bullies of any age!! I dealt with one at the thrift who weighs a good 40 stone. I kept walking forward as she retreated backward…whatta sight!
You are back on track, dear friend!! It is the bad days that make our good ones so joyfilled!
I really liked the first poem, the imagery was great!
The Sophie poems reminded me of a boy in my elementary school who liked to throw rocks; as a young adult, he ended up charged with some crimes which he attributed to his multiple personalities!
We have a “Red Hat Society” over here which is pretty popular (they were banned from one of the Malls, for being such a large group that they were almost treated as a “gang” ) if you’re not quite old enough, you can join as a pink hat!
No apologies needed.
I’d have wanted to do the same sort of thing at that age to a bully.
Is the poet named “Empty Chairs” a new character? I love his poem! You are such a complex poet but thats what I love about poetry, all its intricacies and different personalities.
M.A.
interesting…
Awesome
I always post results and spoilers
Have a great day
I always love reading your poety. I just love your writings anway. Enjoy your hump day!
*sigh* children can be so cruel these days. sophie is amusing to read about, however
I like the imagery you use in your first poem…..
Oh yeah, the muse bug bit me…it must really be getting close to Spring! Hooray! lol
You were lucky to have hair on your head.
To grow up is so sad, we should stay like children forever, what about 9 years old?

I liked them all very much. The first and fourth ones are my favorites. The first one made me giggle.
I recognize this name… is it possible that you were part of the “drytear” poetry site?
I used to read a lot, and then it fell off the face of the earth while I had a computer melt down…
do you know what happened?
Great site you have going here:)
Woke up praying for T.C. Seek hard the Lord while you can. Tiffy is interesting! Such depth of soul here portrayed, such honesty. He did not come to punish [will only do that at the end when no Righteousness is imputed] but for now He simply beckons. This Tiffy person got to me, yes, childhood is great innocent, and yet to be in the safety of the Savior is like this. Pray fervently earnestly. Cover yourself in the Blood shed just for you alone. If you had been the only person in the world in need He would have done this for you and you alone. He came to seek and to save that which was lost. This is so much like myself before. Jesus said santify them with Thy Truth – Thy Word is Truth. Read in earnest, asking for Faith, the entire book of John and be full of Faith and Life. Repent and turn from old ways of making life work. He loves you with everlasting Love, you won’t be sorry, ever. Just come as you are and you’ll see!! Have a great day T.C. Still praying for you. ~ north - alias orange
I shut down my site taking way too much of my time, and I am no writer, I came back to ‘talk’ to you this morning.
http://www.wesleymem.org.uk/ Are these people there in Oxford born again believers?
LOL, I love the first one.
I recall getting in a rock throwing fight with a bunch of kids in the school yard during one summer vacation. Why it happened I don’t recall, but the two things I remember is thinking: Someone could lose an eye or get hurt really badly, and it was also the first time I ever used a curse word in my life. I was certain I was going straight to hell for it, too. I would never want to be a child again.
ah Tiffy is as most oyhers waiting on someone or something elusive very nice pieces thank you Lord hope you are feeling better bless you beckon call/arc m
