  • THREE POEMS.

    “Stuck”.

God moves in a mysterious way,

I know that this is true.

For God hath made this piece of wood

    And this infernal super-glue!

    —–

    “Ringing For God”.

I threw the dirt on the coffin,

I said all the right things,

It was then that we all heard

    The dead man’s mobile ring.

    —–

    “The Light”.

And God lit up our darkness,

And what then did I see?

    Man’s inhumanity to man,

And this lovely cup of tea.

    —–

    The Reverend Tobias Trontby +

  • Well at least with superglue we will stick to things regardless of the outcome   Have a good weekend!

  • Yay, a giggle to start out the day! I am one of those hopeless people who laugh uncontrollably at funerals (nervous laughter) so I would be in so much trouble if a cellular phone went off!

  • Toby’s made me laugh out loud, bless him.

The next set was lovely and sad, with very few words.

    Amazing, as usual.

  • The spider knows you are home, he wants to catch you.
    The rain is never missing.
Thanks for posting this nice verses.

  • Reverend Toby rocks!

  • Made my day!  Love you Terry!  (((hugs)))

  • your last three poems sound like a senryu that onigiriman is teaching on his site.  I love the sunset and moon poem.

  • Love your writing! I’m kind of with flaminredhead, I sometimes laugh at inappropriate times. Funerals, I keep thinking of that scene with Lee Marvin, in Cat Ballou-hard to control.

  • beautiful imagery… very nice!

  • Wow….
Always good to read somethings from the Rev. I loved them, made me laugh
These other little thoughtful haiku’s are really wonderful and colorful.

  • Ringing for God, made me laugh. Can just imagine it happening.RITA

  • Oh my garwsh! What a hoot to read here today! Thanks! I laughed, I cried, and I spoke in tongues. (Seriously – it was a most excellent post.) :D

  • How absolutely amazing.  These poems are greatness defined.  I just LOVE them!!!!!  I wish you would have them published.  You should be sharing them with the world.  Just wonderful….

  • Now, hearing an answer on that phone would really be spooky!

  • Why is that your poems always make me think, feel and want to express my thanks?

  • The mobil rings even in the grave . This is a new idea . ( the 3 headed  Sarah don’ t agree )

I like also the 3th poem by the reverend Terry . At the opposite I could not enter the first because I don’ t know what is the meaning of  hath ?

The last poem written with large fonts is very evocating of someone sick or dying alone in her bed . Who has never felt that at any moment of the life ?

    In friendship

    Michel

  • Thank you Terry for the expalation of hath . I guessed it was old English but I was not sure and anyway I didn’ t know the meaning . Now it ‘ s clear .

    In friendship           Michel

  • Wonderful poems, ryc: Thank you and of course you have been added. I haven’t posted any yet, not to worry. {{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}

  • i like “stuck” cause God does work in mysterious ways i often get stuck to things trying to rush around being superwoman (that i am not!) And it brings me back to reality… can’t fly cause i’m stuck to this damn register…!
also liked the light “but of corse the world is ending how would you like a spot of tea darling”

  • Hey, Honey…The god of Native American beliefs, Great Spirit, is not at all like the Christian God.  Although often personified, Great Spirit is not embodied in any one thing, but in all things…I’ve heard it described as the space between atoms, the Life-Giving energy.  The harmony bonding all of us.  Pretty different from the jealous, wrathful God of the Christians.

    Peace and Love…GFW

  • ryc: your comment made it this time

  • these are deep and gripping and lonely and outreaching.. very moving words

  • I really like “The Light” and the one about the spider.

  • Saying hello and enjoying what you have written immensely.  Fantastic, all of it totally enjoyable.

  • rev. toby’s poems made me laugh. they start out seriously and then suddenly . . . SURPRISE! “beautiful sunset” is kind of gloomy. it’s, like, look at that lovely thing, but oh, it’s going to be dark soon. “beautiful flowers” is gloomy too. i’m sick, but i can see flower. oh, they’re just the wallpapers. “spider” is kind of scary. where a spider spins would be a place where people don’t travel much. so it’s kind of saying the person’s dead. “the carnival” doesn’t seem like it’s about a carnival at all. it’s happy, maybe? if it rains during a carnival, nobody will notice because they’ll be too busy paying attention to the “happy” things going on. didn’t understand “white lilies”, but “widow” is kind of depressing. she can’t get over her husband, or doesn’t want to, so she’s still making a place for him in her life.

thanks for that quote: the older a man gets, the more he knows that he doesn’t knows. i like it.

    BTW, it’s my B-day.

  • I hate that muddafucking spider.

  • I really need to concentrate on the twist, it’s the twist that makes so many unique views of a written thought and you think and write in such perfect twists.

Much affection from this portion of me.

  • RYC: Yowza! The poor Sarahs… I think green dragon would be a very disagreeable snack

  • Very pleasnant read today, thanks I might get to sarah depends on time Cheers Marj

  • i love the last one.

    made my day.

  • I like all of those, expecially the one about the spider web.

  • Your writings are an enjoyable part of my day–thank you, for that! Looking forward to more-either flat black sad, or buoyant funny. Our monster President is making very many cuts to worthy programs-hits too close to home for me-anxious.

  • Hello, Lord P. You’re not going to let some screwballs blow it for you (and the rest of us), are you? This is an obvious and cliche statement, but it’s necessary to remember the cliches at times. Part of Xanga is that your journal is your space– no one else’s that you know or need to heed.

  • lord   i liked  the  no shadow & white lilly piece  so very much  it spoke volumes to me  thank u magi

  • Terry, m’Lord sir…I’m finally out of the hospital and doing better…trying to catch up on my subscriptions. It’s nice to know you’ve been as prolific as ever. “Man’s inhumanity to man, And this lovely cup of tea.” God! I LOVE that! Especially since I was so recently and forcefully reminded that we have to be grateful for the little things. It’s good to be back!
